Our Toddler Room caters for baby and toddlers from approximately 3 months to 2 years old. Our babies are cared for in an enabling environment which provides both fun and stimulation and also has calming and relaxing areas. Our dedicated staff provide all the love and cuddles that small babies need and get to know them very well. They quickly learn and react to their likes and interests which then provides the staff with the knowledge to create a stimulating environment. Babies need time to experience different opportunities and then plenty of time to then repeat these and practise.
We have plenty of new sounds and objects here to explore. Developmental toys, experimenting with paint, sand and water and learning to be with others. Ride-on toys, construction and many other activities are provided. Storytelling, singing and musical instruments are always a must for young children. We have a comfortable sleep room that is used for the children to take a nap.
The decision when to move through to the next room is made jointly between staff and parents around two years old. No child will be ‘pushed’ through before we all feel they are ready to meet the new challenges. Children vary so much and each child will be treated as an individual.
Our Junior Room caters for children between the ages of approximately 2 years and 3 years 3 months old. They have a wide range of creative play to enjoy, designed to take into account each child’s level of development. There is a home corner and dressing up clothes for role-play, construction equipment and art and craft. Music and movement are enjoyed, as are stories, songs and rhymes and plenty of time for free play. Children are naturally inquisitive and this is encouraged and supported. Exploration and being exposed to new and exciting opportunities helps to build the foundations of their critical thinking. Each child’s unique interests help to create a stimulating environment. The children are introduced to Forest School where small groups of children can spend time exploring for bugs, participating in den building and start to acquire basic climbing skills. Social interaction is encouraged and supported.
In our Pre-School, the rising five’s continue to learn through creative play. Each session takes into account children’s current interests and their individual input provides the basis to the wide variety of stimulating activities and experiences. Our broad curriculum is part of Early Years Foundation Stage. Children learn best through play and activities that are planned around their own interests and instigation. Children of this age are incredibly creative, they are full of ideas which they love to be able test out. Their desire to learn and achieve new things is constantly encouraged and supported.
We also put great emphasis on manners, turn taking, self-help skill and confidence building. Our aim is to ensure that when children leave us to start Primary School, they are confident and independent children. They take pride in their own achievements and above all, enjoy learning.
